EDINBURG —Swearing-In Ceremony of incoming State District Judge Renee Rodriguez-Betancourt, which will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at the Edinburg Auditorium, 415 W. University Drive, in Edinburg, Texas.

At 34, Rodriguez-Betancourt will hold the distinction of being the youngest District Judge in the State of Texas, according to the Texas Judicial Branch. She will preside over the 449th District Court of Texas, which handles the juvenile cases of Hidalgo County.

Rodriguez-Betancourt was born in Edinburg, Texas, and graduated from Edinburg High School in 1999. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas-Pan American before earning her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

Rodriguez-Betancourt worked in a variety of legal areas before she was elected judge in the Spring of 2016. She and her husband, J.R. Betancourt, are the proud parents of three young daughters.
