Event is in honor of the 343 firefighters who died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks

McAllen, Texas – More than 300 climbers will participate in the McAllen Stair Climb at Neuhaus Tower on Sunday, September 9, 2018. The McAllen Stair Climb Committee in partnership with the McAllen Fire Department and the City of McAllen joined forces to organize this event. Funds from the event will go to the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force and the Rio Grande Valley Firefighters and Fire Marshals’ Association which help families of firefighters that sacrifice their lives in the line of duty.
Firefighters, Police, EMT’s and citizens are urged to register for the climb. Each participant must climb 16 floors at Neuhaus Tower – seven times to reach a total of 110 floors. Each climber will be assigned to climb in honor of one of the 343 New York City firefighters who died on Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center. Each climber will wear a small picture to commemorate their firefighter.
Firefighters invite the entire community to a ceremony in remembrance of those lost on 9/11 before the stair climb challenge begins at 7:45 a.m.
