Texas Border Business
This was in June 2020; we have had a very busy year. No one remembered such an important anniversary date as most of our staff now works remotely because of COVID-19.
Now we want to make this anniversary more relevant, by making this issue a collector’s item. It is important to us. In this issue, we are presenting seven of our local personalities that gave us Exclusive conversations to highlight their businesses and their careers.
As they appear on the front cover, from L-R, back row, is Ron Patel, President of Golden Grape Entertainment, LLC. He said that “Professional Sports Should Be a Point of Civic Pride for A Community.”
We also had the story, “A Husband and Wife Remind Us the American Dream Is Alive.” I had the pleasure of meeting Juan Rafael Cano and his lovely wife Sara Ana. What a great story. They have a good and successful business, but they had to work for it. As many of you know, being in business is not easy. Dedication and very hard work will take you to accomplish your dream.
We featured the story of Bonnie Gonzalez, “Bringing Prevention and Wellness to the Mid-Valley.” Yvonne Gonzalez, better known as Bonnie, is the Chief Executive Officer of Knapp Community Care Foundation (KCCF) located in Weslaco, Texas. It is reassuring to know that someone is working diligently to better the health of the people in the Mid-Valley.
Another of our Exclusives was with Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez. He has established a “Strong Leadership for Brownsville’s Future.”
Also, in this issue, Natasha Del Barrio, “An Exceptional Woman CEO in Auto Retail.” This story was featured in April, a little after the pandemic made its way to Texas. I have been told that as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Bert Ogden and Fiesta Auto Group in the Rio Grande Valley, she has performed in an extraordinary manner. Congratulations!
We also featured another businesswoman, Laura Warren Ogletree, “Architect with No Borders.” What a phenomenal and talented professional she is.
Also, this year, we had the pleasure of introducing to you a banker with a lot of experience that opened up his own bank. He told us, “If You Can Visualize It, You Can Realize It.” He is Art Ortega of Freedom Bank, The Valley’s Newest Bank.
This month in our nation’s capital, Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the Supreme Court, giving conservatives a 6-3 majority and significantly shaping policies and precedents for a generation.
In this issue, enjoy a brief story about the newest Supreme Court Justice. Enjoy!
