As originally published by Texas Border Business newsprint edition November 2016.

McAllen Chief of Police Victor Rodriguez and I had talked of the possibility of an Exclusive feature story about his leadership at the McAllen Police Department. He is without a doubt a unique individual and a one of a kind law enforcement officer.

One aspect that caught our attention, is the fact that he is totally connected with this community. He is involved in all aspects, as he has an unbelievable personal approach to anyone living or visiting McAllen. During the mass celebrations that often happen in McAllen, he is easily recognizable, not because he is driving his patrol vehicle, but because he is walking the streets among the residents of McAllen. He is always making sure that everyone is protected.

During my entire life as a reporter, 41 years in the business, I have never seen a chief of police that is as accessible to everyone. Chief Rodriguez prefers to be out, to mingle with people during the celebrations. That is why, Texas Border Business selected him to be featured in this November 2016 issue.

On another matter, don’t forget that Yoli and Alonzo Cantu are inviting everyone to celebrate the 3rd Annual “A Season of Hope” Arts Festival. This is a unique event, celebrating Education and the Arts, which takes place in McAllen, Texas.

McAllen is the only city in South Texas with two Hispanic national television networks, however only one has rebuilt its studios with state-of-the-art equipment. That is why Telemundo TV40 makes the Rio Grande Valley unique.

They recently moved to their new location inside the Chase Tower on South 10th street and Chicago Ave. The facilities were designed based in part on suggestions submitted by personnel. Inside this issue, find more about Telemundo TV40.

A Partnership of success, STC announced a Partnership with Baylor University that will help students transfer more easily between the two institutions and continue to expand educational opportunities for young people in Texas.
