Pharr, Texas – The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently selected PSJA Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School Biology Teacher Adrian Gonzalez to participate in the 2018 USDA E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program.
During the two-week fellowship in Washington D.C., Gonzalez will be a part of a dynamic group of leaders from both education and government entities that will collaborate to advance education in Hispanic-Serving School Districts.
For Gonzalez, who was the only PSJA ISD teacher selected, the fellowship can hopefully be a way to bring her love of nature into the classroom.
“Through this experience I hope to build a bridge between our national USDA, local USDA centers and students,” Gonzalez said. “I hope to learn about available programs to contribute our Titan Ecoalition group of teachers. The hope is to learn how to sustain our high school built gardens and create educational grounds for teachers and students.”
The program will begin mid-June in Washington, D.C.
