PHARR – Leaders with records of supporting student success are starting a new role this week with Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD.
In his latest move to support PSJA educators and staff working to break down any barrier to students’ success in their path to college and careers, Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo recruited four new school district leaders.
“From the Air Force to the largest school system in the state, PSJA’s new officers have unmatched experienced, are proven to be highly effective, and are passionate about supporting teachers and staff working to inspire and teach every student at the highest level,” Dr. Arredondo said.
Dr. Rolando “Rudy” Trevino, who served in numerous roles in Houston ISD, including School Support Officer and Assistant Superintendent, was appointed PSJA ISD’s new Chief Academic Officer.
Former Air Force Staff Sergeant Hestroverto “Nick” Martinez, who most recently led operation departments in San Angelo ISD and Edgewood ISD, will be the new Chief Operations Officer at the school district.
A local long-time educator and administrator, Melissa Aguero-Ramirez has served as Director of Human Resources at the Region One Education Service Center, which supports school districts across the Rio Grande Valley. She will now lead PSJA’s efforts to recruit and retain the best teachers as Chief of Human Resources.
A new Assistant Superintendent for Technology was also named. Dr. Lauro Davalos is joining PSJA from Austin ISD after serving a tenure as Principal and other capacities at central office. Originally from the Valley area, he is tasked with bridging technology and academic support at all campuses.
“We welcome these new members to our leadership team,” said PSJA ISD School Board President Jorge Palacios. “Their expertise and knowledge will be integral as we continue to focus on student growth, campus support, and district innovation. Welcome to the PSJA Family!”
