PHARR— The PSJA Southwest Early College High School theatre troupe advanced to the 5A State UIL One-Act Play contest for the first time in campus history after their performance at the Regional contest on Tuesday, April 16.
PSJA Southwest was one of just two schools that qualified for the state competition after competing in the UIL 5A Region IV One-Act Play contest in San Antonio on Tuesday. The company is advancing with their production of “The Book of Everything.”
In addition to making it to State for the first time in campus history, four students received individual awards including: Aren Kintigh, who won Outstanding Technician, Che Greeno, who received Honorable Mention, and Sofia Pulido and Christopher Nicanor, who got All-Star Cast, which is the highest individual recognition a student can receive in the competition.
The PSJA Southwest theatre company will compete in the 5A State UIL One-Act Play contest in Round Rock next week.
Congratulations to the theatre troupe and directors for this historic achievement.
