Pharr, Texas – For a group of 22 parents enrolled in free GED classes through the PSJA Family & Community Engagement Department, their dreams of completing their high school studies finally came true during a special Adult Literacy Graduation Ceremony held Thursday, May 10.
Hosted at PSJA’s Carnahan Parent/Community Education Center, the ceremony was the first of its kind to celebrate this milestone for participating parents in the presence of their loved ones.
The free classes are made possible through numerous community partnerships including South Texas College and Region One Education Service Center. In addition to GED courses, PSJA ISD parents can enroll in 17 FREE classes including: ESL, Citizenship, Nutrition Arts & Crafts, Welding, Auto Mechanics and Security Guard Certifications, to name a few.
Since its inception, the PSJA Family & Community Engagement Department has helped more than 43 PSJA ISD parents earn their GED. To learn more about opportunities offered through the PSJA Family & Community Engagement Department, parents can call 956-354-2216.
