ALAMO – PSJA Memorial Early College High School Senior Amy Huang was recently awarded the prestigious and highly coveted Gates and Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarships.
The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship awards 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship is a new program this year, which provides opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world. It awarded 200 scholarships of $10,000 per student- renewable each year. Open to individuals studying engineering or computer science. The scholarship does not end with a check, as it includes mentoring opportunities.
Amy graduated with an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from South Texas College last Friday, May 17 before receiving her high school diploma. The first-generation college student will be attending Cornell University this fall.
