PHARR – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) Transportation Department has been ranked among the Top 100 Fleets in the nation as per Government Fleet, a leading transportation industry magazine and its ranking of The 100 Best Fleets in North America. Ranked 94th, this makes it the ninth consecutive year, the PSJA ISD Transportation Dept. is recognized by the magazine. This year, it was the only school district in the Rio Grande Valley that made the list.
With 162 buses utilized throughout the school year, PSJA’s Transportation Department is one of the largest in the Rio Grande Valley. For several years now, the goal of the department has been to increase the efficiency of the routes by implementing new devices and software that help cut overall travel costs.
This year, due to the pandemic, bus drivers have also been working in the frontlines to serve the community, helping deliver thousands of meals to PSJA ISD families without transportation and even providing internet connectivity to students in need.
“Congratulations to our PSJA Transportation Department for going the extra mile, and once again placing among the top fleets in America,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge Arredondo. “In addition to always taking care of transporting our most precious cargo, they have also been instrumental in helping us serve our community. This national recognition is so well-deserved!”
For the last nine years, the PSJA Transportation Dept. has either been ranked among the Top 100 fleets in the Nation or received Honorable Mention honors. The support, training and high expectations for the PSJA Transportation Department team are reflected in these achievements.
“We feel very honored for this national recognition,” said PSJA ISD Transportation Director Fernando Guajardo. “Thank you to my amazing team for helping serve our community, students, and families during this time.”
