PHARR – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD School Board approved to host the first school district COVID-19 Testing Site in Hidalgo County during a school board meeting held, Monday, May 4, 2020.
PSJA ISD Health Services together with local and private medical practitioners consider the coronavirus outbreak a call to action.
“We pledge to do whatever we can to help prevent the spread of this terrible disease and will be offering coronavirus testing in conjunction with Preventive Health Solutions and Dr. Ricardo Ochoa,” said Sulema Solis, PSJA Director of Health Services.
Testing is the key to flattening the curve and getting the community back on track.
Anyone in the area who wishes to be tested for COVID-19 may do so, based on test availability starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5, 2020, until Friday, May 8, 2020, from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm at PSJA North Early College High School. The test will be administered to anyone regardless of symptoms or other risk factors in a drive-thru form.
We will be offering testing at all three cities on a weekly rotation basis to minimize the challenges of getting appropriate testing and spreading risks of COVID-19.Â
Testing will continue throughout the next few weeks rotating the service at all district comprehensive high schools following the same times mentioned: PSJA Early College HS from May 11-15; PSJA Memorial ECHS from May 18-22; and at PSJA Southwest ECHS from May 25-29.
In-network Insured community members will not pay a co-pay, and uninsured members will be charged $100 per test.
“We are grateful to our school board of trustees for allowing us to utilize our school grounds as a testing service in order to do our part to minimize the spread of this disease in our community,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo.
