PHARR, Texas – Over 80 students from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) will celebrate their graduation from the PSJA College Career & Technology Academy (CCTA) on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 5:30 PM at the PSJA Southwest High School Auditorium.
CCTA is a program designed for individuals aged 18-26 who are seeking to complete their high school diplomas, whether they are missing credits or have not yet fulfilled the requirements for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). PSJA ISD is also marking the one-year anniversary since bringing back this vital program in 2023.
This program goes beyond helping students earn their high school diplomas; it equips them with the tools to advance in high-demand fields by offering opportunities to earn college certificates or industry-based certifications. Each student enrolled in the program was provided with a laptop to support their studies.
PSJA CCTA provides a critical pathway for students to complete their secondary education while also setting the stage for their post-secondary success. Many graduates are not just receiving their high school diplomas; they have also completed industry certifications, positioning them strongly in today’s competitive job market. These certifications include Emergency Telecommunicator, Phlebotomy, EKG Technician, Google Analytics, and Food Safety & AMP Science Certification.
The graduation ceremony will honor over 80 students as they take this significant first step in completing their high school education and getting a jumpstart on their careers.
