PHARR – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District offered free track camps during the month of June for students in 2nd-12th grade. These camps were part of the district’s annual Summer Sports Camps, which also included golf, tennis, soccer, swimming, softball and open gym for PSJA students from Kinder-12th grade.

“Summer track is real big in the Valley and it’s real big around here,” said PSJA Memorial Early College High School Athletic Coordinator David Brown. “It’s great for everyone involved. It’s great for the community. Our kids learn at a young age how to work hard and be accountable being able to show up every day.”

Brown explained the Summer Sports Camps are opportunities that benefit both beginners and veterans.

“We also have high school kids that are a part of the camps, whether it be track camp or tennis camp, or some of the other camps. Everyone [is] taking advantage of the time to get better over the summer,” said Brown.
