PSJA ISD student artwork advances to State Visual Art Scholastic Event

PHARR –Four art pieces made by students in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD advanced to the Texas Art Educators Association’s State Visual Art Scholastic Event and earned State Exemplary Medals. 

The mission of the TAEA Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve. 

Congratulations to the following PSJA students:

  • “Olivia’s Day and Night” by Katia Rodriguez from PSJA North ECHS. Under the direction of Art Teacher Alma Villarreal 
  • “In Honor of My Past” by Alysia Miller from PSJA North ECHS. Under the direction of Art Teacher Rebecca Rivera 
  • “Christmas Day – Noon” by Sofia Leal from PSJA Southwest ECHS. Under the direction of Art Teacher Armando Rodriguez 
  • “To The Sound of The Cicadas” by Sofia Leal from PSJA Southwest ECHS. Under the direction of Art Teacher Armando Garcia  

 
Leal’s artwork received a Gold Seal. These works are displayed in a traveling exhibition that culminates with the Texas Art Education Association Conference. 

“We are so proud of our students for their creativity and talent,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “Congratulations to them for this accomplishment!”
