PSJA ISD showcases programs, student talent during first-ever districtwide Posada

The PSJA Family Posada event kicked off with the first PSJA Family Lighting of the Tree Ceremony which featured a 20 ft. solar-powered tree made by PSJA Buell Green students using nearly 950 recycled plastic bottles collected from across the district.

PHARR – Over 2,000 families attended Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s (PSJA ISD) first-ever district-wide PSJA Family Posada held at the Central Administration Building on Friday, Dec. 13.

The PSJA Family Posada featured a special performance by PSJA Alumna and Tejano Music Award Nominated Star Sarah Monique accompanied by the PSJA Bear Mariachi.

Making history, the event kicked off with the first PSJA Family Lighting of the Tree Ceremony which featured a 20 ft. solar-powered tree made by PSJA Buell Green students using nearly 950 recycled plastic bottles collected from across the district.  

The PSJA Family Posada featured performances by choir, orchestra, band, and Folklorico groups in the PSJA ISD Fine Arts Program

Showcasing the district’s own talented students, the PSJA Family Posada featured performances by choir, orchestra, band, and Folklorico groups in the PSJA ISD Fine Arts Program and a special performance by PSJA Alumna and Tejano Music Award Nominated Star Sarah Monique accompanied by the PSJA Bear Mariachi. The night was also filled with festive carols played on a grand piano by PSJA Pathways Toward Independence/LIFE Program student Marco Cruz.

Handcrafted items made by students and parents in the PSJA Pathways Toward Independence/LIFE Program and PSJA Parental Engagement Program got to sell their items in the Holiday Gift Market.

In addition to musical performances, festivities included delicious food sold by middle school and high school organizations, a Holiday Gift Market featuring handcrafted items by students and parents in the PSJA Pathways Toward Independence/LIFE Program, Buell Green Inc., and the PSJA Parental Engagement Program, and free games and entertainment for families. All proceeds from the event went to benefit students and participating programs.

Over 2,000 families attended PSJA’s first ever district-level PSJA Family Posada held at the Central Administration Building on Friday, Dec. 13.

“It was exciting to see hundreds of families make the time to join us for our first ever PSJA Family Posada,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “Thank you to everyone who played a role in making it possible.”
