PHARR, Texas — Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) will host Shattered Dreams Awareness Event at the PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School on Thursday, March 6, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM. This event aims to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of drinking and driving.
As part of a Capstone Project, PSJA ISD students will collaborate with the PSJA Police Department to highlight the dangers of impaired driving. A mock crash scene will be staged to provide a realistic portrayal of the tragic outcomes associated with drinking and driving.
A Capstone Project is a long-term, in-depth investigative project about real-world issues (career focus) culminating with a final product, paper, portfolio, and presentation.
The event will feature special guest Judge Renee Betancourt and District Attorney Terry Palacios. Adding a deeply personal perspective, a real-life crash survivor will share their powerful testimony on how impaired driving forever changed their life. Their testimony will serve as an emotional and sobering reminder of the real-world consequences of such decisions.
