PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Senior Dagoberto Lopez was recently named the 2019 State Champion in Dramatic Interpretation at the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament held March 13 in Houston.
The purpose of the Texas Forensic Association is to bring about more effective cooperation among the members of the speech and theatre arts profession in the discharge of their special responsibilities in forensic and theatre activities.
Lopez has excelled during his tenure at PSJA North as a thespian and has been involved in other extracurricular activities such as speech and debate. He was recently ranked number one in Texas in both the Prose and Poetry UIL categories and currently ranks third in the United States for the same categories by the National Speech and Debate Association.
He will be graduating with an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary from South Texas College in May prior to receiving his high school diploma.
In addition to Lopez, over 20 other PSJA ISD high school students competed at the TFA State Tournament in various categories ranging from UIL Tech Design, Costume, Hair & Makeup, and Marketing. State competitors included students from PSJA Early College HS, PSJA North Early College HS, PSJA Memorial Early College HS, and PSJA Southwest Early College HS.
