PHARR – Over 300 interested educators participated in the first virtual teacher job fair hosted by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
According to PSJA Chief of Human Resources Melissa Aguero Ramirez, the goal of the job fair was to recruit the most talented teachers and help those interested in becoming educators get connected with the right resources, such as the ACTRGV alternative certification program hosted by PSJA ISD.
“We are super excited to be able to put this event together,” said Ramirez. “It makes me feel so proud that we are helping folks realize their dreams of becoming a teacher. PSJA ISD’s recruitment strategies align with the Texas Commissioner of Education’s priorities to recruit and retain teachers to the education profession.”
As part of the virtual job fair, prospective candidates learned about the district’s work, nationally recognized programs, and unique perks like competitive salary, stipends, and health benefits, which include free health, dental, and life insurance. In addition to providing great health benefits, PSJA ISD is one of few school districts in the Rio Grande Valley to provide basic health insurance at no cost to all employees and a staff clinic.
“Our goal is to provide our students with the best education possible and that starts with highly qualified and talented educators in every classroom,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “We encourage candidates to apply for the opportunity to become part of our PSJA Family!”
