PHARR – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo School District will be welcoming all fathers and father figures on Monday, Sept. 4 as part of the Million Father March. Fathers are invited to take their children to school to join the national movement asking fathers to take the pledge and get involved in their child’s life, as they play an integral part of their academic success.
This is the fifth year, PSJA schools participate in this movement started by The Black Star Project.
PSJA ISD chose Labor Day to participate in this project in hopes more fathers are able to take their children to school due to the holiday. After students are dropped off, each campus will be providing a small gathering for the participants where they will learn more about various ways they can mentor their children and support them throughout the school year.
Participants can include fathers, grandfathers, foster fathers, stepfathers, uncles, cousins, big brothers, male caregivers, mentors or family friends.
**Please text or call 279-9420 if you plan to cover this event to notify the selected school. Thank you!
