PHARR – The PSJA Child Nutrition Department completed the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Spring 2021 Farm Fresh Challenge and received the “Best of the Bunch” Award, the highest award tier available to districts in Texas.

As part of the challenge, students at PSJA ISD ate local foods and learned about Texas agriculture. PSJA ISD was among only 132 organizations in the state who pledged to participate in this year’s challenge, which aims to make local foods a first choice for students as well as educate them about Texas’ agriculture.

To receive the “Best of the Bunch” award, districts had to serve three or more Texas foods from three different food groups at least once a week in April.
