Alamo, Texas – PSJA ISD’s Livas Elementary student Branndon Roy Perez is now $250 closer to his goal of starting a small business after earning 2nd place in the local 2018 Guppy Tank Business Contest held May 23 in McAllen.
The Guppy Tank contest, which is a take on the popular TV show Shark Tank, was organized by Watermill Express, the nation’s largest drive-up drinking water and ice company, as a way to challenge 4th through 8th grade students in the Rio Grande Valley to think creatively about business ownership.

The 4th grade student was one of only seven finalists selected to present his idea to a panel of judges on Wednesday. His business proposal, named “The Dugout,” is aimed to get more kids outside playing baseball through an equipment rental, trade-in and training program.
As the 2nd place winner, Branndon not only gets to represent his school and PSJA ISD, but will receive a cash prize to jump start his proposal for his small business.
Way to hit it out of the park, Branndon!
