SAN JUAN— The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Child Nutrition Department has once again received recognition from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for successfully completing the Farm Fresh Challenge.
Previously known as the Local Products Challenge, the month-long event recognizes school nutrition teams that serve more local products in their meals while also teaching students about foods that are grown and raised in Texas.
This year, nearly 20 percent of Texas school districts participated in the challenge and PSJA ISD was among the few that took the challenge to the highest level and received the Best of the Bunch award from the state for helping make local foods a first choice for the more than 32,000 PSJA students across the district.
The PSJA Child Nutrition Department will be recognized in Austin at the Business of Numbers and Nutrition Conference this June.
Congratulations!
