Thanks to Hidalgo County Emergency Management and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, rural county residents have accessĀ to valuable information on preparedness through a newĀ initiative that offers trainingsĀ on personal and family preparedness.
Emergency Management Coordinator Ricardo SaldaƱa, under the directionĀ of Emergency ManagementĀ Director and County Judge Richard F. Cortez, sponsored a proclamation recognizing all the departments and agenciesĀ involved in the “Prepared Not Scared” preparedness trainings.
“We appreciate everyone’s part in the success of these trainings,” said SaldaƱa.Ā “Participating partners in the Prepared Not Scared trainingsĀ provide an avenue in reaching, engaging, and educating rural residents in various topics such as fire preparedness, domestic violence, and the 911 operating system.”
Agencies that participated in the initiativeĀ are the Hidalgo County Judgeās Office; Hidalgo County Office of Emergency Management;Ā Hidalgo County Sheriffās Office;Ā Hidalgo County Precinct 2;Ā Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s office;Ā Hidalgo County District Attorney’s office;Ā Hidalgo County Health and Human Services;Ā Hidalgo County Community Service Agency;Ā Mujeres Unidas;Ā Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council;Ā Xylem Dewatering Pumps; LUPE;Ā ARISE and Proyecto Azteca.
Due to several devastating weather events and fire fatalities, the county continues to urge residents to become proactive in preparing themselves, their families, and their households for any emergency situation.Ā Ā
