CLFRF funds will be primarily divided among three ARPA eligible spending categories: improving public health, supporting COVID-19 mitigation efforts and addressing socioeconomic disparities.

Hidalgo County plans to expand access to primary health care via the ARPA program by making large-scale renovations to Hidalgo County clinics. Additionally, the county recognizes that the COVID-19 public health emergency has exacerbated behavioral and mental health disorders and is developing plans to respond to the impacts.

The county will also continue COVID-19 mitigation efforts through the ARPA program by acquiring supplies for testing and providing personal protective equipment to Hidalgo County first responders.

Lastly, the ARPA program intends to address long-standing socioeconomic  and health disparities in disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. The program plans to invest in county stormwater systems, education, recreation and broadband infrastructure.

Future projects will be officially introduced to the court in upcoming sessions. The ARPA program encourages engagement from constituents via its website, hidalgocountyarpa.com, or Hidalgo County’s social media platforms.
