EDINBURG, TX – – Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a new park at 10 AM, Wednesday, September 16th next to ECISD Brewster School in Linn-San Manuel.
“This groundbreaking is a culmination of efforts by many people and it is a testament on how a community can work together to achieve great success,” said Torres. “I am always excited to see additional open spaces and parks develop in the county, the residents in the area will have a new much-needed place to play with their children and enjoy the outdoors with their neighbors.”
The Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park was designed by SDI Engineering LLC, which will feature space for fitness and wellness, including lighted walking trails with seating areas, basketball courts, softball/baseball fields, children playground, a pavilion, a concession stand, restrooms and an ample parking lot.
“I am excited for the partnership between the school district and county as we build a place where the community can become healthier and happier through exercise, recreation and spending time with family and friends,” said Gilbert Garza Jr., Edinburg CISD Interim Superintendent.
“A comprehensive master plan was approved that outlines the needs and goals for the Linn-San Manuel area. We identified initiatives after reviewing the master plan, community feedback, collaboration with Edinburg CISD, and available financial resources,” said Velinda Reyes, Precinct 4 Chief of External Affairs.
Due to COVID-19 the groundbreaking ceremony will be limited to attendees and by invitation only; however, a live Facebook Event will be streamed through Ellie Torres – Hidalgo County Commissioner Pct. 4 Facebook Page. We invite our community to form part of the ceremoniously ground breaking on the long awaited Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park.
