EDINBURG – Precinct 4 hosted a ribbon cutting for Hidalgo County’s newest trash collection and disposal center for county residents. The Davis Collection site was built on 2.75 acres adjacent to the Precinct 4 Brush Site. The collection site is paved and is set to accommodate fifteen trash containers. The center was built at approximately $830,632 thousand dollars. The center will be open to the public on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
Commissioner Ellie Torres remains committed to finding solutions to issues that affect residents. Annual visitation numbers for the trash centers and brush site in Precinct 4 accumulated to 175,354 visits in 2022, which prompted this project. A current county-owned property was used that only required infrastructure to be built. “It is my hope that residents will utilize the site which is now truly in the unincorporated area of Precinct 4. We want to curtail illegal dumping and this site is just another solution for residents to dispose of trash properly,” said Torres.
The Davis Collection Site is located on the corner of Terry Road and Davis Road, where the Precinct 4 Brush Site currently resides. Currently opened trash centers operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Precinct 4 will now operate three trash centers which are located at: (1) the M Road Recovery Center, 1124 N “M” Rd in Edinburg; (2) the Linn-San Manuel Recovery Center located at 21661 Highway 186, Linn, TX and now (3) the Davis Collection Site, 6015 E. Davis Road in Edinburg.
The project was designed by the Hidalgo County Drainage District No 1 and constructed by Rene Guerra & Sons Hauling, Inc. RO Engineering managed the project and the construction materials testing was conducted by Terracon Consultants.
