EDINBURG, Texas – Precinct 4 broke ground on a new recovery trash disposal center for county residents. The Davis Collection site will be built on 2.75 acres, the collection site will be paved and will have 15 trash containers. Project cost is approximately $719 thousand dollars.

At present time, Precinct 4 is operating two recovery centers. The M Road Recovery Center and the Linn-San Manuel Recovery Center. Annual visitation numbers for the recovery centers and brush site accumulated to 175,354 visits in 2022.

Precinct 4 Sanitation Department dove into the data and inquired where permit holders were visiting from. It was quickly learned that permit holders were traveling lengthy distances to dispose of trash. “I looked into cost effective strategies to help provide convenience for rural county residents. Soon after, the idea of a new recovery center onalready owned county properties was born,” said Commissioner Ellie Torres.

The Davis Collection Site will be located on the corner of Terry Road and Davis Road, where the Precinct 4 Brush Site currently resides. Once the recovery center space is constructed at the site, both trash and brush will be accepted at the location. The new site is scheduled to open in the Summer. Currently opened collection site centers operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
