Edinburg, Texas — A necessary phone line conversion scheduled for Friday, December 12, may cause service interruption at the Edinburg Police Department and the Edinburg Municipal Court.
Residents calling from phone lines starting in 383, 289, and 318 will get a busy signal until the lines are ported to a new phone company. People calling from a cell phone or from another city will not experience a disruption.
The 9-1-1 emergency line will also not be affected and will continue to be operational for emergency calls.
The phone company anticipates the conversion should take between 4-6 hours. In the meantime, residents are asked to call the PD or Municipal Court from their cells phones until the conversion is complete. As a reminder the 9-1-1 line is for emergency calls only.
