Phoenix Hospitality Group names Sergio M. Cardenas Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Sergio M. Cardenas, CHSP, has been named Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Phoenix Hospitality Group (PHG), it was announced by PHG founder and CEO, Ed McClure. Cardenas joins PHG with 29 years of experience with full-service and luxury hotel products under the Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, Carlson and IHG family of brands.

He is responsible for the company’s top line revenues, and supports the expansion of the management portfolio through new development, acquisitions and consulting.

Cardenas holds a business degree from Davenport University and maintains a Professional Sales and Marketing accreditation from the American Hotel and Motel Association. He began his hotel career as Director of Sales & Marketing for BriLyn Property Investments, a REIT based in Cincinnati, OH.  Over the years, his progressive career has led him to direct the sales efforts of luxury, independent and upscale properties and manage mixed hotels portfolios with continued success.

A co-founder of the West Michigan Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Chapter, Cardenas previously served on regional and national marketing committees for Carlson, Hilton and IHG Hotels.  His industry involvement includes previous chairmanships and board memberships in several hotel marketing organizations such as Meeting Professionals International; American Society of Associations Executives; National Tour Association; Society of Government Meeting Planners; Religious Conference Management Association; Professional Conference Management Association; and Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International. He is a member of Rotary International.

Phoenix Hospitality Group, a Texas-based hotel development, management and consulting company, currently owns and manages the Doubletree by Hilton San Antonio Downtown Hotel, the new Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center-Live Oak, and Hotel Indigo Riverwalk San Antonio.  It also manages under long-term agreements for the new Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Brooks Hotel, Spa and Conference Center and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel McAllen.

Projects underway include the new “The Bevy Hotel Boerne, a DoubleTree by Hilton®” full-service hotel and conference center in downtown Boerne, TX, which broke ground in January 2018.  When complete in Q1 2019, this premier full-service destination hotel will offer 120 contemporary rooms and suites, outdoor event spaces, wraparound porches, resort pool and firepits and a 7,200-square-foot conference center, all custom-designed in Texas Hill Country vernacular featuring indigenous natural materials.    Several other PHG projects are in pre-development and acquisition analysis.
