The Commission proclaimed September 2018 as Hunger Action Month in the City of Pharr. Hunger Action Month is hosted by the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc., an organization whose mission is to educate the community about hunger and promote how to take action against it in various ways, such as through its community garden which is used to educate kids on the benefits of healthy eating and other community  programs. The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. will be hosting fun and educational activities throughout Hunger Action Month to educate families on self-sustainability.
As part of their month-long activities and initiatives, the Food Bank RGV, Inc. will host the 13th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon at the Pharr Events Center on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Omar Rodriguez, Manager of Communications & Advocacy for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc., and Jaqueline Flores, Director of Development and Donor Services, were on hand to receive the proclamation. “It is wonderful to partner with the Mayor and the Commissioners to help the families in Pharr and the rest of the Valley,” said Rodriguez. “We are very appreciative of your support and are proud to call Pharr the home of the Food Bank RGV, Inc.”
