Peñitas, Texas – Following similar Disaster Declarations by the President, Governor, and County Judge, City of Peñitas Mayor Rigo Lopez today issued a Declaration of Disaster Due to Public Health Emergency related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As such, the City’s Emergency Action Plan is activated, and certain emergency measures are effective immediately.
With the imminent threat and possibility of exposure to disease, and to prevent the spread and control of the risk of disease, the City of Peñitas will take action to promote the public health, safety, and welfare of Peñitas residents and families.
The Peñitas Public Library will be closed to the public beginning tomorrow. The Splash Pad will also be closed. All Parks and Recreation activities will be suspended. All city events will be postponed until further notice.
City officials encourage the public to practice good hygiene, implement social distancing where appropriate, and follow the advice of authorities to remain safe and healthy during this time.
