McAllen, Texas, January 19-2016-Are you ready for a party with over 7,000 attendees, entertainment, vendors, and lots of door prizes? Come on out to the 23rd Annual Winter Texan Expo Tuesday and Wednesday, January 19-20, at the McAllen Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The event is free and open to the public (of all ages).
McAllen was long touted as “The Square Dancing Capital of the World.” All new this year, WHRGV is bringing square dancing to the WTE! Square dancing is an important part of Valley history and Winter Texan culture. Everyone who attends the WTE will also be able to jump in for rounds of line dancing and freestyle dancing, so be sure to wear your cowboy boots or a comfortable pair of rockin’ shoes. Also new this year, we will have French translators for all of our French-speaking Winter Texans/Summer-Canadians.
Following the 22nd Annual WTE, Welcome Home RGV purchased the event. WHRGV had participated in the event as a vendor for several years and knew it was a perfect fit with what we do.

We will be offering free glucose, body mass index, and blood pressure screenings, and representatives from every South Texas Health System facility and the Valley Care Clinics will be present to educate seniors about topics such as chest pain, stroke, falls, behavioral health issues, robotic surgery, rehabilitation, and more. Physicians from our McAllen Family Medicine Residency Clinic will also meet with attendees.
