Hidalgo County Commissioners Court unanimously passed a resolution renaming a portion of 10th street to State Trooper Moises Sanchez Boulevard.
North Schunior Street to FM 1925 is the portion of 10th Street that will be re-named after Trooper Sanchez, who made the ultimate sacrifice when he was killed in the line of duty while protecting the citizens of Hidalgo County on August 24, 2019.
Surrounded by State Troopers, Zachary Sanchez, the late Trooper’s son, proudly accepted the resolution that was sponsored by Pct. 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres.
“So many people in the community have reached out to me and my family and have asked how we are,” said Sanchez. “I am amazed at how big of an impact my father had on the community. Thank you for going the extra mile and honoring him here today by naming the street after him.”
