Edinburg, TX (8/31/2020) – The Honorable Judge Richard Cortez and Hidalgo County Commissioners have presented a resolution in honor of Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) receiving the Transformational Change Lifesaving Award.
“In 2016 this shelter had a save rate of only 23% and today, for 2020, our save rate is 92%,” said Donna Casamento, Executive Director of PVAS. “The PVAS team and the RGV communities are part of this award and should be proud.”
Originally founded as Upper Valley Humane Society, PVAS has undergone two logo and name changes. PVAS is an active partner of the Best Friend Animal Society, a national animal welfare leader with a goal to make the nation no-kill by 2025.
The mission of PVAS is to provide lifesaving care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need by engaging the hearts, hands, and minds of our community.
“We’re excited to see what the future holds for animal welfare in the RGV,” said Casamento. “We’ve made this incredible change and now we want to make this the life saving norm across the Valley.”
