Over 20 PSJA ISD Schools Recognized for Counseling Excellence

PHARR, Texas – Over 20 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) campuses have been named recipients of the Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) Award by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA). 
 
This distinguished honor recognizes exemplary, data-driven, and student-centered comprehensive school counseling programs across the state. The CREST Award highlights schools that demonstrate a commitment to supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary growth through intentional counseling practices and meaningful campus-wide initiatives. 

The following PSJA ISD schools earned the 2024-2025 CREST Award:

Allen & William Arnold Elementary 
Amanda Garza-Pena Elementary 
Arnold Cantu Sr. Elementary 
Augusto Guerra Elementary 
Berta Palacios Elementary 
Carmen Anaya Elementary 
Cesar Chavez Elementary 
Daniel Ramirez Elementary 
Dr. William Long Elementary 
Edith & Ethel Carman Elementary 
Geraldine Palmer Elementary 
Graciela Garcia Elementary 
Henry Ford Elementary 
John McKeever Elementary 
John Doedyns Elementary 
Raul Longoria Elementary 
Santos Livas Elementary 
Sgt. Leonel Trevino Elementary 
Vida N. Clover Elementary 
Zeferino Farias Elementary 

All CREST honorees from across the state will be formally recognized during the 2026 TSCA Annual Conference, taking place February 1-3, 2026, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. 

“We are incredibly proud of our counseling team for earning this statewide recognition,” said PSJA Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alejandro Elias. “Their dedication to building strong, supportive environments for our students truly reflects the support and care being offered in our schools.” 
 
PSJA ISD remains committed to fostering whole-child development and ensuring all students receive guidance, resources, and the support they need to thrive in school and beyond.
