WASHINGTON – $109,118,263 in final Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Title I formula allocations funds for Local Educational Agencies (LEA) in the Rio Grande Valley from the U.S. Department of Education, Congressman Gonzalez announced.
Title I Grants to local school districts are intended to ensure that the most financially and socially disadvantaged children have an equal opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach proficiency on state academic assessments.
“Funding for education, especially during a pandemic, is one of my highest priorities,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “Teachers and students must have the resources they need to teach their students. Whether that’s technology for remote learning or cleaning supplies for classrooms, I will continue to support public school funding and advocate on behalf of top notch education programs for the 15th District of Texas to ensure our schools are safe and kids receive a quality education. ”
The following allocations have been provided to LEA’s in the Rio Grande Valley:

• Edcouch-Elsa ISD: $4,055,541
• Edinburg ISD: $21,158,076
• Hidalgo ISD: $1,466,863
• La Villa ISD: $354,825
• McAllen ISD: $15,510,945
• Mercedes ISD: $4,329,252
• Mission ISD: $11,062,405
• Monte Alto ISD: $611,084
• Progreso ISD: $1,293,071
• Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD: $19,020,283
• Sharyland ISD: $3,595,631
• Valley View ISD: $2,586,278
• Weslaco ISD: $9,764,291
Final numbers differ from the preliminary allocations because of updates to the annually collected counts of children in locally operated institutions for neglected or delinquent children, in foster homes, and in families above the Census poverty line that receive assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (non-Census formula children data) and to LEA finance data used in the Education Finance Incentive Grants formula. There may be additional differences if a State were to report revisions to its State Per-Pupil Expenditure (SPPE) data.
Congressman Gonzalez continues to be an advocate for every child in the 15th District of Texas and will work to bring additional funding to schools across South and Central Texas.
