On March 25, 2025, the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court, through the findings, circumstances, and recommendations presented by the Cameron County Fire Marshal, issued a Burn Ban Order for the unincorporated areas of Cameron County.
The purpose of the order is to mitigate public safety hazards posed by wildfires during drought and upcoming weather conditions by restricting the practice of outdoor burning. The order prohibiting outdoor burning will be in effect for 90 days, or upon such termination date as decided by the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court through the recommendations and findings by the Cameron County Fire Marshal.
At all times, individuals are urged to use extreme caution and obey all local and state laws on outdoor burning.
