WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) discussed the Senate’s efforts to lower prescription drug prices for patients and warned against the socialist agenda of the Democrat presidential candidates today on Fox News.  Excerpts of his interview are below, and video can be found here.

On the Senate bills to lower drug prices:

“We want to lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers, for patients… I’m confident we can do that. The Finance Committee bill that passed out last week I think is a big contribution to that effort. There are also other bills from the Judiciary Committee that I serve on, as well as the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee that have to be put together.”

“This is a complex undertaking and one that I know we need to be careful about. But I’m confident we can get this done sometime this fall.”

On Medicare-for-all and the Democrat debate last night:

“What I heard is that the Democrats are on a relentless march toward socialized medicine, government-run healthcare, and they tried to parse it in different ways. One called it Medicare for America, others call it Medicare for All, others talked about the public option. All this is to try to confuse people in that relentless march toward one-size-fits-all, government-run, socialized medicine, which means you won’t be able to pick your own doctor. You’re going to have to wait in long lines. You’re going to get access to substandard care. I think that’s what people need to understand.”
