Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Mechanic Shop, built prior to 1971, will be growing into a new 11,684 square foot vehicle maintenance facility being constructed between the current Precinct 4 Administration and the Precinct 4 Field Operations Buildings located at 1051 N. Doolittle Rd in Edinburg.

The new mechanic shop will provide much-needed space for Precinct 4 staff, allowing them to expand work capabilities offering a more conducive working environment while improving safety and providing a vibrant new workplace for the precinct operations. The new building replaces an 8,500 square foot dilapidated facility and is targeted to be completed in late 2021. The mechanic shop is under the project management of B2Z Engineering, the architectural design of ERO Architects, civil engineering of Hidalgo County Drainage District No 1, and construction of NM Contracting, LLC.

“I am extremely excited to break ground on this much needed project.  In order to manage the daily operations of the precinct, a mechanic shop conducive for a safe and effective working environment is necessary in order to keep up with the daily demands of our equipment and fleet management needs. The facility will offer updated equipment and resources necessary to continue with our field operations,” stated Ellie Torres, Commissioner Precinct 4.
