In Mission, she said, “I have participated in different Chamber events like the â€śBuenas Tardes Luncheon”, Ribbon Cuttings, and hosted Chamber events for the last 17 years”.

Norma is also known for her role as owner of La Mansion Ballroom where she hosts all types of events, including charitable events for different non-profit organizations as part of giving back to the community.

She pointed out that she feels extremely grateful and honored to have received such a distinguished award. â€śAll of my life I have worked hard to grow professionally and to make my children and my husband proud, I hope I have achieved that.  Leaving a legacy isn’t about how much money you leave, it’s what they will remember you for.”

Her husband is Omar Guevara, CHA, the general manager for the Radisson® Hotel McAllen Airport.

Omar, who is very much in love with Norma said, “We actually grew up in the same neighborhood.  We went to elementary, junior high and high school together.” He continued, “Both graduated Memorial ’86. We went our separate ways, then, 6 years ago, we met up at La Mansion, what was then her Ballroom.”

Norma loves Mission, she says that the city has a lot to offer like amazing restaurants, beautiful parks, great people, and a magnificent events center.

In November 2019 they will commemorate 3 years of marriage. According to Omar, his relationship started with love at first sight. He said that her self-confidence was a major attraction.

What makes you happy when donating your time to your community?

“Making a difference in people’s lives, having them smile at me or hugging me telling me how whatever I did to help benefited them,” she finalized.

Norma lives in Sharyland and has lived in Mission for the last 20 years. Congratulations, for being named Woman of the Year 2019!
