The main focus of the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is that of assisting small businesses. With the Valley growing at the fast rate that it has been, the RGV Hispanic Chamber wishes to hear of all the business problems throughout the Valley. Thus board members from Starr and Cameron county have been recruited to sit on the board and bring forth the issues that arise in that particular area of the Valley. The RGVHCC Board of Directors proudly introduces the 2 new board members from Starr County, Nilda Elizondo, and Robert Vale.
Ms. Elizondo is the Vice President of the Starr County Industrial Foundation. She serves as a critical component of the recruitment and expansion team that is responsible for over 160 economic development projects that have generated private investment of over $2.5 Billion that have created/retained over 5,900 jobs. An integral part of her professional portfolio consists of directing, coordinating, and creating the marketing strategies for the economic development of the County of Starr, as well as aggressively pursuing funding to sustain the initiatives. In this role, she leads the development and implementation of an integrated strategic marketing and communications plan that has advanced the organization’s brand identity, expanded membership and increased corporate sponsorships. She also serves as a County and City liaison with local, state, and federal governmental agencies and civic organizations to advocate for issues pertinent to the economic growth of the region
Mr. Robert Arthur Vale is Vice President of Trade Development of the Starr Camargo Bridge Company – International Toll Bridge, Vice President of Trade Development, Border Pacific Railroad Company, Mission-Rio Grande City, and President of Strauns Customhouse Brokers, LLC – National Coverage. He is a member of several organizations such as the Border Trade Alliance Trade and Security Committee, Rio Grande Valley Partnership, a volunteer at the Texas Children’s Hospital, experienced in all modes of intermodal transportation: truck, rail, and barge, etc. “We are excited as to the experience, knowledge, and leadership that they will bring to the RGVHCC Board. The RGVHCC also focuses on Health, Education, Government Affairs, International and Women’s Issues, and any matter that may affect the Valley. Â
