BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) has chosen Mr. Pablo Montero as the new Director of Business Retention and Expansion (BRE). Mr. Montero is a highly ambitious professional that has over seven years of experience in overseeing and managing economic growth in the global market. In the role of Director of BRE, he will build and cultivate partnerships with external stakeholders, to sustain and increase the pro-business atmosphere of the greater Brownsville region.

“We are excited to have Mr. Montero join the GBIC team. We feel he aligns well with our organization’s goals and will support the GBIC’s economic development strategy,” said Interim Executive Director and CEO Constanza Miner. “As Brownsville grows, we must enhance our service offerings to support our business relationships with existing and potential new partners.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Brownsville as Director of Business Retention and Expansion and also in having the opportunity to contribute to the future of this amazing city,” said Mr. Montero. “I have expert knowledge of import and export operations in the transportation industry as well as the heavy industry. It is my goal to leverage my knowledge and experience in these industries to bring value to the Brownsville community as well as our economic development partners.”

During Mr. Montero’s time with his previous employer APM Terminal, he has contributed to numerous import and export document verification, where he oversaw and ensured the accuracy of the policies and guidelines of Customs Authorities. He has experience with sales and finance that help drive market shares and profitable revenue growth, and he understands the logistics of working with international partners.

Mr. Montero has a Bachelor of Science in Maritime and Supply Chain Management from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Leo University. He is knowledgeable in computer science and is fluent in English and Spanish.

The Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation seeks to actively promote an economic frontier that is a robust multi-modal transportation system: rail, sea, air, land and Space with the presence of SpaceX. It facilitates economic growth by promoting investment and working with regional and international partners in job creation, training, innovation, business development, and manufacturing. GBIC is a non-profit organization, Type-A Economic Development Corporation, created to oversee the disbursement of a ¼ cent sales tax.
