Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Yvonne Ramon presented to the court an update on all the proposed Constitutional Amendments that will appear on the Nov. 5, 2019 ballot. There are 10 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. These amendments were submitted by the 86th Legislature, Regular Session, of the State of Texas.
Among the amendments on the ballot is Proposition 8, which proposes creating a flood infrastructure fund as a special fund in the state treasury.
The proposed amendment will appear on the ballot as follows: “The constitutional amendment providing for the creation of the flood infrastructure fund to assist in the financing of drainage, flood mitigation, and flood control projects.”
Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes, in conjunction with Drainage District #1, presented a resolution in support of Proposition 8.
“This would allow for the creation of the Flood Infrastructure Fund (FIF) that would authorize $793 million in flood-control projects in the State of Texas,” said Fuentes.
Commissioners Court unanimously approved the resolution in supporting Proposition 8.
