Killam Development hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Mission, Texas, to celebrate the launch of the new Sharyland Business Park. This major industrial project, local officials say, will support job creation, logistics growth, and long-term regional development. The event was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the corner of Anzalduas Highway and Anzalduas Drive. The Mission Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce collaborated on the effort.

Representing neighboring McAllen, Ralph Garcia, COO of McAllen EDC, said the event marked “continued growth and opportunity in our region.” He thanked Mission, regional partners, and the Killam family for their investment. “Today’s ribbon cutting… represents progress, vision, a stronger future for the Rio Grande Valley,” he said. Garcia emphasized the park’s proximity to the Anzalduas International Bridge, noting it “provides unmatched logistic advantages for manufacturers and logistics users who rely on fast, secure, and efficient cross-border movement.” He credited partnerships among public and private stakeholders, saying they “are what make transformational projects like this possible.”

Killam Development President and CEO Cliff Killam described Mission as “a beautiful, sunny, blue sky” place and thanked partners for supporting the project. He stated that Killam Companies has served South Texas “for more than a hundred years” and remains in the region because of its “amazing people, culture, energy, and… enormous potential.”

Killam outlined details of the Sharyland Business Park, calling it “a 175-acre development with about $8 million invested in the infrastructure.” He said it will generate “about two and a half million square feet of industrial property,” representing “about $275 million of investment,” along with the jobs that follow. The park includes 15 lots ranging from four to 25 acres, and according to Killam, the company is “already seeing incredible traction with several lots under contract or of interest.”

He emphasized the site’s connectivity, citing its location “just minutes from the Anzalduas International Bridge,” access to Interstate 2, and proximity to McAllen International Airport. Killam described the business park as “a key hub for logistics, manufacturing, cold storage, distribution,” and future opportunities in “technology, data, and innovation.” He said the larger corridor, with nearly 1,000 acres planned, is becoming “one of the most exciting new centers for economic growth and trade in the nation.”

Killam credited collaboration as essential to advancing the project. He thanked Mayor Garza, Mission EDC leaders, the City of Mission, and the Mission Chamber, saying they “welcomed us into their community and included us in their vision of economic development and prosperity.” He described the project partners’ communication and processes as “outstanding,” adding that such coordination “matters enormously when you’re bringing major projects to life.”

Killam also thanked Congressman Henry Cuellar “for continuing to work and securing the resources and advocating for the tools needed to make developments like this possible.” He stated that Killam Development has invested “approximately about $75 million in the Mission area” and said, “we’re just getting started.” He closed by thanking the community “for believing in this vision” and said the company looks forward to the growth ahead, adding holiday wishes to attendees.

The ribbon cutting marked what officials described as a significant milestone for Mission and the Rio Grande Valley, representing both new industrial capacity and long-term confidence in the region’s economic potential.
