MXLAN 2019 by Shah Eye Center is McAllen’s 5-Day Interactive Arts and Culture Festival that will celebrate Mexico’s past, present,
Presented by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and taking place at the McAllen Convention Center, MXLAN will be a summer destination event that will offer families from South Texas and North East Mexico, plenty of activities for all ages to entertain and participate.
This year’s festival will take place from July 24 to July 28 and will have as honor guests La Guelaguetza dancers from Oaxaca, the most important ethnic event in Latin America. La Guelaguetza dancers will do Calenda parades as well as perform at special shows at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.
Texas Monthly, The National Magazine of Texas, will host A Border Discussion, a special MXLAN panel discussion exploring border issues.
Additional scheduled activities are MXLAN Mercado, a 150+ exhibitor marketplace with Mexican Artisans form dozens of Mexican states, Neon Nights 5K, Circo Hermanos Vazquez, MXLAN Burning Letter Ceremony, MXLAN Vibe Music Stage, MXLAN Play with eGaming and Chess tournaments & Lego Corner, Sabor a Mexico, MXLAN Lights- low rise firework show, MXLAN Unite- Main Concert Finale, World Most Famous Zapotec Chef – Abigail Mendoza, Firemaster at MXLAN – top grillers of Mexico, Tequila, Mezcal & Catrinas Festival – a mixed beverage tasting, elevated food tasting, DJ’s with Oaxaca’s day of the death vibe.
