EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector agents arrested three Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members, two migrants previously convicted of sex crimes against children, and one migrant with a warrant of arrest for a sexual assault in Texas.

On Nov. 15, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents arrested a group of 39 migrants in Hidalgo. Record checks on a Honduran national, revealed he is a MS-13 gang member, who was convicted and sentenced to two years’ incarceration for robbery in Virginia in 2015. He was subsequently removed from the United States.

Later that evening, Falfurrias Border Patrol Station (FLF) agents arrested a group of ten migrants near Encino. Record checks on the 27-year-old Salvadoran national, revealed he is an active MS-13 gang member.

On Nov. 16, MCS agents encountered a group of five migrants near Hidalgo. Agents arrested all the migrants and transported them to the station for processing. At the station, record checks revealed one of the subjects, a Mexican national, was convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in Arizona and sentenced to five years’ incarceration. During the same offense, he was convicted and sentenced to four years’ incarceration for transferring or selling drugs to a minor. He was subsequently removed from the United States.

On Nov. 18, MCS agents arrested a group of seven migrants in Hidalgo shortly after they illegally entered the United States. Record checks on Jose Monte-Salvador, a Honduran national, revealed he was convicted of two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 in California. He was sentenced to two and three years’ incarceration to run consecutively for the 2011 crimes. He was subsequently removed from the United States.

On the same day, FLF agents arrested a group of 12 migrants near Encino attempting to circumvent the checkpoint. At the station, record checks on a Salvadoran national, revealed he is a MS-13 gang member with extensive criminal history in California. He was also sentenced to 18 months incarceration for immigration related offenses in 2018 and was subsequently removed from the United States.

Also on Nov. 18, Brownsville Border Patrol Station agents responded to a request for assistance from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office at a migrant stash house. Agents apprehended 13 migrants unlawfully in the United States. Record checks on a Mexican national revealed he has a warrant of arrest for sexual assault from the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office.
