EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley arrested a gang member and two child predators in less than six hours.
Yesterday morning, Falfurrias Border Patrol agents apprehended a group of eight illegal aliens attempting to circumvent the checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. Record checks for a male Honduran national identified the man as a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member. The subject had been previously arrested and found guilty for street gang crimes and malicious wounding by the Fairfax Police Department (PD) in Virginia.
Moments later, agents from the McAllen station working near McAllen, Texas, arrested a Mexican national, later identified as RINCON-Ruiz, Adrian whose record checks revealed an arrest and conviction for sexual assault of a child (15 year old) by the McAllen PD. The subject was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years probation. Furthermore, the subject is wanted by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.
Hours later, Kingsville Border Patrol agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint, were conducting checkpoint operations when a Chevrolet Malibu arrived at the primary inspection area. The vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection area for further review of the passenger’s immigration status. During questioning, agents determined the passenger, later identified as LUGO-Garcia, Damin was illegally present in the United States. Record checks revealed that LUGO-Garcia was arrested in 2001 by the Olmito Sheriff’s Office in Brownsville, Texas for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Lugo-Garcia was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years probation.
Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
