Motorists Urged to Use Caution for McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Run Lane Closures, Jan. 18th

Lane closures, pause in traffic as runners make their way throughout route

In preparation for the 2025 Scott Crane Marathon on Sat., Jan. 18, the City of McAllen is advising motorists of potential traffic delays and lane closures along the marathon route. Image for illustration purposes

In preparation for the 2025 Scott Crane Marathon on Sat., Jan. 18, the City of McAllen is advising motorists of potential traffic delays and lane closures along the marathon route. 

City departments will be flagging runners through the following roadways and intersections to ensure runner safety:
 
Galveston Avenue
23rd Street
Houston Avenue        
2nd Street (Houston to Violet Avenue)
Violet Avenue
6th Street
Zinnia Avenue
Main Street (Zinnia to Business 83)
Business 83 (Main to 29th Street)
29th Street

Runners will begin the 26.2-mile race at the McAllen Convention Center before heading east on Galveston and Houston Avenue. They will then continue north on 2nd Street, west on Violet and Zinnia Avenue, southwest on Main Street and Business 83 before returning to the Convention Center for an additional loop along the original route.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time or to find alternate routes to avoid congestion in the area.
