La Casa de mi Abuela, bringing childhood memories to their dinner tables.
Mission. – Cynthia Villarreal and her daughter Ximena Martinez turned to meal prepping using what they learned in her beloved Nana’s traditional Mexican kitchen to create delicious, fresh dinner options that were ready in just a few minutes.
La Casa de mi Abuela is one of 20 contestants who will present their products before a panel of judges selected by H-E-B. They will determine the four winning products and award $25,000 to the Grand Prize winner, the title of “Texas Best”.
Passion and tradition brought together “La Casa de mi Abuela”, by recreating Cynthia’s grandmother recipes. Mother and daughter started working as a team to cook meals that will bring families together. Established in 2016, La Casa de Mi Abuela now offers a line of seven stews and products found in more than 20 different stores and supermarkets throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
The selection process for the 2021 finalists is as ambitious as it is rigorous. The quality of this list of new entrepreneurs and innovators demonstrates the importance of their role in the industry’s driving force. “We continue to be amazed at what Texans bring to the table and how their creations are received in stores,” said James Harris, Director, Diversity & Inclusion and Supplier Diversity, H-E-B. “The creativity and resiliency of our Lone Star food, and now non-food, creators have elevated this contest with another year of unbelievable stories and products.”
Based on the values and traditions of a Mexican family, Cynthia started this dream to cook meals that bring many childhood memories to their dinner table. “We take care of the cooking while they enjoy their family”.
