SAN ANTONIO – Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Launch and Recovery) 1st Class Kent Velez (center), of Mission, Texas, assigned to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Brownsville was recognized as Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio’s Active Enlisted Recruiter of the Year during the NRD’s annual awards banquet held at the Embassy Suites Landmark.Â
Presenting the awards were (left to right) NRD Command Master Chief Francisco Valdovinos, NRD Commanding Officer Cmdr. Nicholas Gamiz, NRD Chief Recruiter Master Chief Navy Counselor Matthew Maduemesi, and NRD Executive Officer Cmdr. Michael Files. In addition to earning the top recruiting award, Velez was award recognized as the Diversity Enlisted Recruiter and Enlisted Leads Recruiter of the Year. For his superior service, Velez was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
